Mid-Summer Social Round-Up
After a busy offseason, we’ve officially entered the doldrums of the NBA calendar year. It’s been an exciting summer for Pacers fans between the Draft, Summer League, free agency, and the surprise #HickoryPacers announcement.
Things have slowed down as of late, though, and the Blue & Gold faithful are no doubt counting down the days until the start of training camp.
While there may not be a lot going on on the court, NBA players most definitely enjoy this time of year. August is the one month where they’re truly free of commitments, allowing them to spend quality time with their families and get in a little rest and recuperation before the grind of another NBA season.
Let’s take a look at what some members of the Pacers roster have been up to in recent weeks.
Congratulations are in order to two members of the Pacers’ frontcourt on new additions to their family. Ian Mahinmi and his wife welcomed a baby girl and just a few weeks later, Lavoy Allen’s wife gave birth to twin boys:
Speaking of family, plenty of Pacers players have been hanging out with loved ones. New guard Monta Ellis posted an adorable video of his young son and nephew showing off their dance moves, rookie Joe Young’s family helped him model his new jersey, and top draft pick Myles Turner set sail on the open seas for a family vacation:
As you’ll notice in that last post, Turner caught his first fish a couple weeks ago. Several of his teammates are more experienced fisherman, including newcomers Ellis and Young, who both posted pictures of some of their latest catches. Young even shared his photo with his cousin Paul George, who questioned the legitimacy of the catch:

George Hill hasn’t posted any fishing pictures lately, but he’s been plenty busy, helping IMCU stuff backpacks and checking out the Brickyard 400:
Paul George visited China as part of the Nike Rise Tour, which later continued in the basketball-crazy Philippines:
New Pacers wing Glenn Robinson III has been thinking up some creative ways to reimagine the dunk contest:

While veteran C.J. Miles has been a fixture at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, whether he’s judging Pacemates auditions or welcoming world class gymnasts to Indiana:
