Throwback: First Game at The Fieldhouse (11/6)
Fifteen years ago today, the Pacers hosted the Boston Celtics for the first event at the building then known as Conseco Fieldhouse in front of a crowd of 18,345. Game attendees had the choice to sit in one of 69 luxury suites or in the 2,400 club seating capacity in addition to the regular seating. Contractors for the Fieldhouse wanted the structure to resemble classic basketball fieldhouses from the past.
Indiana won the game 115-108, with Reggie Miller contributing 29 points in the victory. Miller went 7-for-11 from the field and 4-for-5 from downtown to lead six Pacers players in double figures.
Mark Jackson had 15 points and eight assists, Rik Smits added 13 points, and Dale Davis (10 points and 11 rebounds) contributed a double-double. Al Harrington added 12 points off the bench, while fellow reserve Austin Croshere had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Antoine Walker led Boston with 21 points, while Kenny Anderson added 20. Paul Pierce — at the time starting his second NBA season — had 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
